QING MING & ULLAMBANA

Qing Ming and Ullambana (Hungry Ghost Festival) are festivals deeply rooted in Chinese Culture, who are the majority of Buddhist practitioners in Malaysia today. During this time, we perform ceremonies the Buddhist way, chanting, doing meritorious deeds while thinking of our dearly departed and transferring these merits to them.

In Mahayana Chanting, Sutras are often recited in the style of a song, following a melody with percussion instruments such as bells, drums, wood-fishes and gongs. Learn how to play these instruments, not only with Buddhist songs, but famous tunes from the "Happy Birthday" song to pop music.

THERAVADA
PALI PUJA & CHANTING

Pali chanting and Puja is a 2,500 year old ancient practice from the Buddha's time. In our Puja Services, we recite a number of Suttas such as the Metta Sutta, Mangala Sutta and Ratana Sutta, and more.

Buddhist Youth Groups focus more on soft skills, such as teamwork development, social skills and are gatherings between Youth aged 13 to 29. Ignite friendships, form bonds and make memories with our Buddhist Youth Group.​
WESAK CELEBRATION

Wesak commemorates the birth, enlightenment and death (Parinibanna) of Gautama (Shakyamuni) Buddha, over 2500 years ago. At Ti-Ratana, we organize big processions and floats annually, walking about 2km around our centre's neighbourhoods with the exception of 2020, where we organized our first ever E-Wesak online celebration due to Covid-19.

MANDARIN MAHAYANA CHANTING

Each Sunday, children and teens are welcome to join us to get a deeper understanding and insight of Buddhism. Sunday Dhamma School aims to provide a comprehensive knowledge of Buddhism, encourage the development of spiritual friendships and show the way to walk along the noble eightfold path.
KATHINA CEREMONY

​Held in October or November of the Western calendar, Kathina is organized by lay people in order to present monks with new robes. One robe is ceremonially presented as the Kathina robe to the head of the monastery, to be given to the monk who is, at least in theory, to be the most virtuous. He will be chosen by the abbot.
